DOGGYDANCING

Dancing with dogs

"A dance is a song whose every movement is a word"

How many of you love to dance?

To listen to some music you like and just move your body? It doesn’t matter if it’s at a party, with some friends or even alone facing the mirror.
How many of you hear a song you like, and your head and hands start moving without even paying attention?

Take the freedom of dancing, combine it with your best furry friend, and you have a great recipe for a happy, fun life!

Why is dancing with our dogs so great?
Our daily lives fill us with endless stress: those long work hours, the tight schedule, the pressures of having a family or even being a student. Add to that the endless hours sitting in our cars in traffic, sitting at the office, and even, when we finally get home, sitting at the computer or in front of the TV.

Our body needs to move and release all the stress we build up throughout the day!

Dogs are the best medicine for today’s fast-paced life!
Everybody knows (and many researchers have proven) that dogs can be a great solution for reducing stress. Our dogs never judge us – we don’t need to impress them in order for them to love us. They make us move more and help our social connections.

Research has shown that the levels of the oxytocin hormone (the love hormone) are higher when we have a dog in our lives. Even just by looking at a dog, oxytocin is immediately released into our brain!

When you put these two factors together – moving our bodies and having a dog as a part of our little dance – you get the best time of your life.

What is doggy dancing?
Doggy dancing is the perfect combination of creativity, obedience and tricks, mixed together into a flow that involves teamwork between the dog and the handler.

When did I discover my passion for doggy dancing?

I was a dancer for many years, and I loved the world of dancing.
Last year I spent 8 months in the United States performing, interning, and competing doing Disc Dog with Alexa, my 4-year-old border collie.
One of the productions I was working on needed a short doggy dance routine for one of the shows.
I’ve been a dog trainer for the last 11 years and it was no problem for me to combine tricks and obedience into a nice team movement.

Dancing together with Alexa brought back my passion for dancing, especially when it was combined with the activity I love doing the most – training dogs.

I started learning all about doggy dancing, performed, and had the best time of my life. When I came back to Israel, I won first place in a doggy dancing competition. I also won the 2018 Israel Championship in doggy dancing. After that, I started teaching seminars all over Israel, performing in many fairs and shows and teaching dog training in different schools.
